Unforgettable Mountaineering Adventures
Conquering Challenges and Exploring Wonders: Deoriatal Chandrashila Trek (Grades 9 & 10) & Bijli Mahadev Trek (Grades 5-7)
Covering the Expanse of Himalayan Forests
Our trekkers from Grades 5-7 have returned this morning from their adventure, delving into the wonders of nature with a trek to Bijli Mahadev in Manali. This trek showcased the magic of pine and deodar forests, offering stunning views of the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges. The purpose was to inculcate forest walking, independent living, reflection in nature and collaboration.
Their journey had commenced with an overnight bus ride from Noida to Manali, where they settled into the Indiahikes Jungle Line Campus. The next day, they acclimatized with a refreshing walk through the pine forest, preparing themselves for the exciting adventures ahead.
Following this, the learners ventured to Kot Village, trekking to the Borsu Forest campsite. The scenic 1.5-hour drive, covering 41 kilometers, provided glimpses of the stunning landscape. The 2-kilometer trek, taking approximately 3 hours, immersed them in the enchanting trails of pine and deodar forests.
Continuing their exploration, the learners moved from the Borsu Forest campsite to Shildhar. This leg culminated in a breathtaking sunset trek to Bijli Mahadev, offering panoramic views. The alpenglow painting the peaks left them awestruck. They then trekked back to Shildhar, spending a magical night under a blanket of stars.
The final leg of their trek involved journeying from Shiladhar to Karate. They then drove back to the India Hikes Jungle Line Campus in Manali, reminiscing about their unforgettable experiences.
As they returned to Noida, the learners carried with them their reflection about themselves and the fears or mind-blocks they overcame, memories of breathtaking views, serene forests, and a deep appreciation for nature. The Bijli Mahadev trek was more than just a journey; it was a transformative experience, instilling wonder, resilience, and camaraderie among these young adventurers.
Hiking Tough Trails for the Mystic Peaks
The teenagers had embarked on a thrilling expedition to Deoriatal Chandrashila trek, eager to discover the awe-inspiring beauty of Uttarakhand's mountains. Their immersive journey, from May 6th to 11th, unfolded amidst nature's grandeur, offering panoramic vistas and serene landscapes.
The adventure began with a scenic drive from school to the tranquil surroundings of Aurovalley Ashram in Rishikesh. This serene location served as the base for the first leg of their exploration.
As the trekking adventure progressed, the students honed their outdoor skills under the guidance of experienced instructors. They learned essential techniques like setting up tents and preparing basic survival meals with camp stoves. This newfound knowledge would prove invaluable during their challenging treks.
The trek to Deoriatal was a visual treat, with trails winding through vibrant oak and rhododendron forests. These forests are especially enchanting during March and April, boasting a kaleidoscope of colors. Upon reaching Deoriatal, the learners were greeted by breathtaking views of towering peaks, including India's highest, Mt. Nanda Devi.
The next day presented the most challenging trek from Baniya Kund to Chandrashila via Tungnath, the world's highest Shiva temple. This demanding 7-8 hour trek, spanning 13 kilometers, starting at 1AM, tested the learners' resilience and determination. However, the reward was worth every step – stunning starry night, fragrance of the flowers and finally the Sun rising from the majestic peaks, exceeding 7,000 meters towering around them.
Conquering the peak, the learners descended back to Baniyakund for a well-deserved rest before driving back to Rishikesh. An overnight stay at Aurovalley Ashram marked the end of this unforgettable expedition, bringing them back to Noida with memories that will linger for a lifetime, and a newfound respect for the majesty of the Himalayas.
The contrasting experiences of the Deoriatal Chandrashila and Bijli Mahadev treks offered something valuable for all students. The older learners pushed their physical and mental limits on a challenging trek, while the younger learners gained confidence and appreciation for magic that unfolds in groups. Ultimately, both groups returned home with a newfound respect for nature’s grandeur and a sense of accomplishment that will stay with them for years to come.
A huge thank you to the entire Indiahikes team for their expertise, which made this adventure unforgettable and for capturing the learning so well.
