Happy Seva Day !
Seva or service is eternal message of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, whose sainthood we are celebrating today
One of Guru Nanak’s most well-known teachings, “Naam Japo, Kirat Karo, Vand Chakko” (meditate on God’s name, work honestly, and share what you have), reflects his vision of a society where people support one another selflessly.
By focusing on Seva, Guru Nanak encouraged us all to break down barriers of caste, creed, and social status, and to see the Divine in every being. He believed that true spirituality is found not just in rituals but in caring for others and serving humanity.
An example of this is his establishment of Langar, the community kitchen, where food is prepared and served by volunteers to all, regardless of their background. lt symbolizes equality, humility, and generosity, and is a powerful reminder of his message that “all are one.”
At Prakriti, we have a tradition of visiting Gurudwara with our learners and participate in Seva. The spirit of service must continue the entire year and that’s why learners at school are encouraged to volunteer in tasks such as serving food to the school community and helping set up the events. May the spirit soar and unify us all!
